Accessability
We have four spots reserved for wheelchairs on our Main stage and two on our Studio-stage. The wheelchair-accessible entrance is in Hansa shopping centre, next to the restaurant Deliberi. Feel free to contact us beforehand if you have any additional needs or accessibility requirements.
Age recommendations
The theater’s age recommendations are flexible. It primarily relies on parental discretion, understanding the theater experience and sensitivity of their own children. More information is available on each play’s individual page.
Auditorium
Be on time
We ask the audience to arrive for the performance in good time before the show is set to begin. If the show has already started when you arrive you will not be let in to the auditorium, but you can follow the performance from the balcony before finding your seat during the intermission. The doors to the auditorium opens 15 min before the performance starts.
Bussvoucher
Åbo Svenska Teater offers travel compensations for groups over 30 people travelling to see our own productions on our Main stage. The value of the bus voucher is 100€. Please contact our sales team at biljetter(at)abosvenskateater.fi if you are interested in booking tickets for a group.

Food and drink
You may enjoy drinks or something to eat in our theatre cafe before the show or during the intermission, but it is prohibited to bring foods or drinks into the auditorium.
Induction loop and subtitles
The theater currently does not have an induction loop, but we always provide subtitles for our own productions on the Main Stage.
The subtitles are projected above the stage and may not fully follow the dialogue on stage; occasionally, we may need to abbreviate or simplify. We prioritize subtitles as part of our commitment to making the art of theater increasingly accessible to a broader audience.
The subtitles may not be visible from all seats in the auditorium. The best places to follow the subtitles are in the middle of the auditorium, the middle and front rows of the first balcony, and the front rows of the second balcony.
Subtitles on smart devices:
You can follow the subtitles on your own iPhone or Android phone. Additionally, the theater has a limited number of smartphones available for loan, provided by our ushers. The subtitle system we use is developed by the Finnish company Loitsut. The app is called ‘Subtitle Mobile’ and can be found in the Apple App Store and Google Play.
The theater staff is happy to assist you before the performance or during intermission.
Learn more about the subtitle app here.
Intermission
The intermission is 20 min. To have time to enjoy the intermission we recommend that you book your food and/or drinks beforehand.

Public transpotation
We collaborate with Föli – Turku Region Traffic.
Åbo Svenska Teater collaborates with Åbo Region Traffic. The theatre ticket also serves as a Föli ticket that can be used on Föli’s buses and water buses before and after the event. No separate ticket is needed. With an event ticket that includes a Föli ticket, you can travel with Föli 3 hours before and 2 hours after the performance. You can make a total of four trips with the ticket, so if needed, you can switch lines once in both directions. Föli operates in Turku, S:t Karins, Reso, Lundo, Nådendal, and Rusko, and the same tickets are valid throughout the area.
Parking
In Turku City centre there are several parking areas, including Turun Toriparkki, Louhi parkeringshall and next to the Market Hall.
Programme
More information about the performance can be found in the program booklet, where there is often interesting and enlightening facts about the play, its author and background, the participants, the characters, and the actors. Program booklets are available for purchase at the box office and in the cloakrooms.
