THE KING, THE ROSE, THE FOX – MEET ALL THE CHARACTERS
THE PILOT
Loneliness. What was it like a hundred years ago to fly the very first airplanes, maybe thousands of kilometers from the nearest house? No phone. No internet. No one to talk to. A pilot like that could feel alone in the whole universe. But what happens if the airplane suddenly breaks down and the pilot has to make an emergency landing?

THE LITTLE PRINCE
The Pilot who makes an emergency landing in the desert meets a strange boy who asks him to draw a sheep. The boy is the Little Prince, and he comes from a small planet far away in space. He is on an adventure and wants to explore the universe – maybe he will find a friend? On his journey he visits many planets. On one of them, Earth, he meets the Pilot.

THE ROSE
On the Little Prince’s own planet, his rose is waiting for him. It is a flower he has watered and protected himself. To him, she is the most important thing in the whole universe. The rose is proud and sensitive, and sometimes a little demanding. She wants to be loved and noticed, and even if she does not always say it out loud, she loves the Little Prince just as much in return.

THE ASTRONOMER AND THE ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY
An Astronomer discovers the Little Prince’s planet through his telescope. But when he tells others about it, nobody listens—because he is not dressed like everyone else. Only when he changes his clothes do people take him seriously. Can appearances sometimes matter more than the truth in the world of grown-ups?

THE KING
On his journey from planet to planet, the Little Prince meets a king. The king lives alone on his planet and wants to rule over everything, even the sun and the stars. The most important thing to the king is that everyone obeys him. But are you really a king if there is no one to take care of?

THE CONCEITED MAN
On another planet lives the Conceited Man, who only wants to be admired. He wants to hear how wonderful he is, again and again. For him, the most important thing is to be seen and to receive applause. But who is really listening to him? Ingemar Raukola as the Conceited Man.

THE TIPPLER
The Tippler drinks to forget that she feels ashamed—and she feels ashamed because she drinks. She is stuck in a circle she does not have the strength to escape.

THE BUSINESSMAN
The Businessman counts the stars and says he owns them. He writes the numbers down and locks them in a box. For him, the most important thing is to own and collect things. But can anyone really own a star?

THE LAMPLIGHTER
The Lamplighter lights and puts out his lamp again and again, because the rules say so. His planet spins faster every year, but he faithfully continues his work. He does not think only about himself—and that is why the Little Prince likes him.

THE GEOGRAPHER
The Geographer writes big books about seas and mountains, but he never travels himself. He collects facts about the world, but he does not know what it really feels like. When he says that flowers are “short-lived,” that they can disappear, the Little Prince begins to worry about his rose.

THE FOX
When the Little Prince arrives on Earth, he meets the Fox. At first the Fox does not want to play, because he has not been tamed. But when they sit together, talk, and get to know each other, they become friends. The Fox teaches the Little Prince that friendship takes time and that we must care for one another. And the Fox shares his great secret: what is most important cannot be seen with the eyes – it can only be felt with the heart. But why does saying goodbye hurt so much?

THE SNAKE
The Snake meets the Little Prince in the desert. She is quiet and mysterious—and a little dangerous. She says she can help him go home, if one day his longing for home becomes too strong.

THE CHORUS
The Chorus are fellow travelers in the Little Prince’s world. They help us see what is happening both in the desert and out in space.

THE DESERT FLOWERS / THE ROSE GARDEN
The Little Prince also meets the desert flowers, standing alone in the sand. They say that people have no roots and blow along like the wind. Their words are simple, but a little sad. In the rose garden he finds many roses that look exactly like his own. At first he feels sad and confused. But soon he understands that his rose is still special—because he is the one who has cared for her.

WHAT KIND OF AIRPLANE IS ON THE DEN LILLE PRINSEN POSTER?
A piece of Finnish aviation history!
The plane is a Klemm Kl 25 from 1937 – the oldest civil aircraft registered in Finland.
It is a two-seater, single-engine aircraft, built of wood with plywood and fabric. It is named “Adolf Aarno”, after Finland’s first motor pilot, and today it is owned by the Turku Flying Club.

WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE PLANET? THE ACTORS ANSWER
Oksana Lommi
The Little Prince’s planet. Living there together with the volcanoes and the rose seems simple and delightful. The rose is also my favorite flower – I would carefully take care of it and, of course, stop to smell it. I think we would have a lot of fun together!
Dick Holmström
Earth. The only reasonable planet. But if we play with the idea, I would probably enjoy Saturn’s moon Titan the most – a place that combines drama, a touch of extreme adventure, and still a hint of practical possibility.

Earth. I want to continue living here – otherwise the homesickness would be too much.
Ingemar Raukola
Earth. It is a unique and beautiful planet with changing seasons. Here there are friends to get to know, exciting forests filled with animals, and lakes with refreshing water to swim in.

Tellus. “Because it is an interesting place,” says the Geographer, played by Jerry.
